I haven't done an update in quite a while. Let's see, the last time I wrote, I was having neck issues and fearing the possibility of neck surgery. Luckily the neurosurgeon that did my last surgery feels that this time surgery isn't necessary right now. Yes my disc has extruded again and won't go back in, but since I'm coping with it, surgery can wait a while. So other than arm pain and strain, I'm managing. I just don't know if I want to put up with the spasms and discomfort for too much longer. The nerve damage could cause the muscle to atrophy even more.

In the meantime, summer is in full swing around here! We've been going on picnics and to festivals and car shows. We've been using the BBQ, making shish kabobs and grilled pizzas! Tom tosses in a fresh plank of clean wood to give everything an awesome wood smoked flavor. We've been doing s'mores, too - reminiscent of Tom's camp days.

Tom bought me an old bike from the 1930's - one with a bell on the handle bars! So I went bike riding for the first time in 20+ years! Forget what they tell you - one does forget how to ride a bike after all that time! I'm pretty unstable on it, and being so nervous and tense causes my neck more pain, but it's fun trying...brings back so many memories :)

Tom's birthday is right around the corner! And then one week after his is my birthday, too. We haven't made any plans yet, but Tom's asking for a new CD player for his car. No idea what he has planned for mine either, but he never forgets to do something special so I'm not worried.

The house is coming along nicely. Right now we're working on some electrical wiring in the dining room. Tom installed the framework for the new wall, and soon we'll be painting. The pet rooms and bedrooms are finished - they all came out beautifully! Tom really outdid himself on the dogs' new playroom. They love it. Everyone who sees it thinks it's adorable.

I'm having fun picking out the decorative accessories for the rooms. The dogs' room was fun - I just bought a fire hydrant for it! For the living room, I bought some gorgeous pieces of art from an artist named Tom Caldwell. He does realistic architectural pieces - usually of European buildings. I bought a few English landscape ones. For the dining room, we're going more French with Parisian street paintings, ivy topiaries, and glass wall sconces. I can't wait until it's finished! Hopefully we'll be ready once the holidays come!

Everything else is going good. Our garden is growing with tiny jack-be-little pumpkins, zucchini, gourds, tomatoes, herbs, peppers, and cucumbers. All of our flower beds are flourishing - even in this unbelievably hot and humid weather. It won't be long until we're picking our beans for Tom's famous wax bean soup...mmmm. Sooo good. That man can cook! Is it any wonder why I'm so crazy about him?!?

Married life is sweet ;)
